This being my second character and all, is it ok for him not to be a beginner?

Name: Ken Yaiba

Looks:
Ken has spiky orange hair, and orangeish/brownish eyes. He has yellowish skin, and is very tall, standing at 6'3''. Ken wears an orange tee-shirt, and a grey/blue jacket with white fur. He wears jeans that are the same shade and color as his jacket. Ken also wears orange sneakers. Ken always wears teh same necklace, because it was a gift from his dead sister.

Family: All dead.

Personality: Ken is quiet and shy. He loves pokémon though, and prefers to spend his time with pokémon then people. His favorite pokémon type is ice.

Starting Pokemon: None. Ken brought his Snover with him from Sinnoh.

History/backround Story: Ken grew up in snowpoint city, in the sinnoh region. Everyone had a pokemon exceot him. One day, when everyone else was battling, he left on a walk. It was then when he saw a snover being attacked by various pokemon. He ran in, and rescued the snover. When he got back, he and the snover were already best friends, but his Mother told him that they were going to move. Suddenly, the house was on fire! Smoke, and flames everywhere! Everyone hot... Air... Ken needed air. He can Snover ran outside. Ken was clutching something in his hand, but he was to scared to notice. When he got outside, he saw his house was burned down, and nobody escaped. He then went to Kanto, and became a ranger, to protect pokemon from fires and things like that.
